What is Lymphatic Drainage? (pressotherapy)
Learn more about lymphatic drainage and how our medically certified technology BOA Max 2 can be the right addition in your clinic.

it lymphatic system, also simply called the lymphatic system, is one of the most complex systems of the body.
Its function is essential for both immune system as for Circulatory system and we simply wouldn't function without it. The main task of the lymphatic system is to ensure that the fluid from the various tissues of the body is properly transported and reacted via the bloodstream.
There are many factors that affect the lymphatic system and it is therefore not uncommon for it to not function optimally. Problems with the lymphatic system can manifest themselves in different ways as the system is spread throughout the body.
Fluid accumulationsSymptoms, such as edema, are very common and manifest themselves as swellings of the skin on, for example, legs or arms. The fluid-filled area may be sore and hot. In the context of an accident or after an operation, it is common to have fluid accumulations but it can also occur due to an impaired function of the lymphatic system.
What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (ML) involves performing, with a soft, selective pressure, a massage-like treatment in the direction of the lymph. It opens up the system and directs the fluid in the right direction to the “emptying channels”, such as the armpits, kneecaps, groin and at the clavicles. In this way, it helps the system to get started and can thus speed up a slow, dysfunctional system.
Lymphatic massage can be felt a little if you have a lot of fluid retention and it usually takes at least 5 treatments to achieve good results, but already after a course of treatment most people experience a clear improvement, they feel lighter somehow.
Results of lymphatic drainage can take time and affect much of how one lives in everyday life. Diet and exercise play a huge role in a functioning lymphatic system. After a treatment, it is important to drink plenty, preferably water, to help the body flush out the waste products that can otherwise easily stagnate again.
Walking, yoga, water gymnastics and stretching are great for the lymphatic system. In everyday life, you can also use compression stockings if you are sedentary, fly a lot or simply have an easy time accumulating fluid.
The Story Behind Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage goes way back in time and there was a Danish doctor named Emil Vodder They developed the technology that we still use today.
It was after 4 years of research of the lymphatic system that Dr. Vodder developed accurate hand movements to get the lymphatic system moving. From the early 1930s until his death in 1986, Dr. Vodder worked to demonstrate and teach his method in the field of lymphatic drainage.
Automatic Lymphatic Drainage
Today, there are new modern methods that complement ML and also those that can replace the manual approach in the form of “lymphatic pants” and “lymph jackets”.
They come in all different price categories and in the market they all promise about the same thing. First of all, you need to know what you want to achieve with the lymph pants or the lymph jacket, what expectations you have and what results you want to achieve.
A treatment for proper lymphatic drainage must be sequential, overlapping and with the right pressure.
Our solution: BOA Max 2

At Lyfe Nordic we are proud to offer a world-leading lymphatic drainage device in the BOA Max 2. This medical grade device has been developed according to Dr Vodders methods of lymphatic drainage and offer a very effective compression therapy treatment.
Regular compression pants have 5—8 chambers that are not overlapping. BOA Max 2 has 24 different chambers with smart sensors to create just the right print in the right place with the aim of achieving real results.
The best thing about BOA MAX 2 is that they are very easy to use. Only a couple of button presses later, the device takes care of itself and no therapist is needed.
