Red light therapy: 8 things we wish we knew from the beginning

Here are 8 things we wish we knew from the start — and how Red Light Pod, Red Light Solo and Red Light Pod PRO will help you make the right choice.

Here are 8 things we wish we knew from the start — and how Red Light Pod, Red Light Solo and Red Light Pod PRO will help you make the right choice.

When we first started working with commercial red light therapy at Lyfe Nordic, we were met — like many others — by a jungle of research, vague guidelines and confusing information. It has taken 3 years of testing, training and customer dialogues to really understand how to get the maximum out of red-light treatment. That's why we've taken everything we've learned and built it into our technologies — so you don't have to guess.

1. Strength determines the result

In the past, lasers were required to have an effect — but today there are LED lights that are powerful enough to produce an effect.

The “sweet spot” is usually between 40—80 mW/cm². For businesses that want to offer the same dose but in a shorter time, 100+ mW/cm² be effective. Red Light Pod, Red Light Pod Pro and Red Light Solo are optimized for this — powerful and results-oriented.

2. Size matters

A small panel works well for minor local problems (e.g. a knee or shoulder injury). But for whole-body benefits, chronic inflammation, energy boost and better sleep, greater coverage is required.

Our red light beds Red Light Pod and Pro model cover the whole body and are carefully developed to provide proper dispersion using its high number of LED lights — ideal for clinics or biohacking studios.

3. Distance affects the effect

The closer to the skin, the deeper the light penetrates. If you want more lasting effects for the skin such as increased collagen production, you can go a little further. However, if you want deep therapeutic treatment, your body should be as close to the light source as possible, so that the light can penetrate all the way into the cells.

Red Light Pod is designed for optimal positioning of the body so that both superficial and deep tissues — such as joints and muscles — receive maximum exposure.

4. The right wavelengths are crucial

Red light therapy usually comes in two different wavelengths, one that is visual and one that is non-visual.

Visually: 630—670 nm (red light) = skin and collagen

Non-visual: 850—940 nm (near infrared light) = joints, organs, muscles

Our systems combine both red and near-infrared wavelengths — so you get broad benefits in every treatment.

5. When in the day?

Doing scarlet fever therapy at any time of the day is better than not doing it at all.

But the best time is at sunrise and sunset. Light strengthens your circadian rhythm — just as the sun did before we lived indoors. This is when the body naturally receives the most red and infrared light in nature.

6. How often should I do scarlet fever therapy?

For best effect — do it regularly. 3 to 7 times a week is adequate.

Do you drive every day? Take a rest day from time to time so your body can recover.

7. Stand, sit or lie down?

Convenience is key. Many people prefer to lie down — it reduces stress and makes it a meditative moment.

Red Light Pod and Pod PRO are recumbent red light beds with full body support — you relax while the technology does the work.

8. How long should the treatment be?

It depends on the drive and strength that you have, but between 5—30 minutes is optimal.

Red Light Pod PRO Adjust time and intensity based on goals — such as recovery, pain relief or skin health — so you don't have to guess.
